Weather Alert for 21-24 March

Kashmir:

A strong Western Disturbance is heading towards Kashmir with the possibility of bringing moderate to heavy rainfall in plains and snowfall in higher reaches between 21 - 24 March. There is also possibility of light snowfall in some plains.
Rumours of non-stop continuous 3-day rainfall are false although some hefty rain showers are expected during the said period.

Jammu:

Light to heavy rain-/thunder- showers are expected in Jammu region with the possibility of hailstorm and gusty winds at a few places.

Ladakh :

Moderate snowfall in Kargil district while light snowfall is expected in Leh district.

Alert Level: Orange [Strong WD - chance of turning into very strong]

Anticipated Impacts:
1. Rise in water level particularly on 23-24 March.
2. Farmers are advised to complete spraying of orchards by 20 March or postpone it to after 25 March.
3. Travelers are advised to avoid travelling on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway between 21 - 24 March due to possibility of shooting stones and landslides.
